Haggai – try again

You planted many seeds, but not much grew.

How we try in our own strength to be busy but business gets in the way of abiding in the True Vine.

“It is not as good.” ’ v4 But the *LORD says, ‘Be strong, Zerubbabel. Be strong, Joshua, the *High Priest and son of Jehozadak. Everybody must be strong.’ The *LORD says: ‘Work, because I am with you. v5 My *spirit is still with you. Do not be afraid. This is what we agreed when you came out of Egypt.’

There are many in the pulpit who preach moralism which can never really be attained.  But Hebrews tells us God is not unrighteous to forget our labours.  Forget the legalist and moralist.  Remember god’s grace in His word to encourage and bring us back to His vision.  For the appointed time will come.  Habbakuk.

The *corn is not in the *barn. The *grapes, *figs, *pomegranates and the *olives have not given fruit. But from today I will be good to you.’

It is not ourselves lest we boast but the Lord who remembers us.

The *LORD of everything says this. v8 ‘The *silver is mine and the gold is mine’, says the *LORD of everything. v9 ‘You are building me a house. The *glory of it will be great. It will be greater than the *glory of the old house.’ This is what the *LORD of everything says. ‘In this place I will give *peace’, says the *LORD of everything.

Listen not to man but to God. The silver and the gold He will give abundantly when our allotted time comes.  Cast your bread upon the waters. After many days the bread shall return. Ecclesiastes.
